Charles Lowry

Charles  Lowry, a graduate of the University of Lancaster, joined the school in September 2000 after being Deputy Headteacher of Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic High School, Altrincham for five years. His previous experience includes Head of Science at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic High School, Rotherham, Head of Physics The Oaks Comprehensive School, Barnsley, Head of Biology St. Helen’s Comprehensive School, Barnsley and Adult Education Tutor, Barnsley 6th Form College. Charles firmly believes that Catholic schools are at the heart of the Church's mission in the service of others.

 

Penny Mullen  – Deputy Headteacher

Penny Mullen My teaching career began in 1989. I have always worked in Greater Manchester schools and have been at St James’ for the past 8 years. Posts have included Assistant Head of Year, Head of Department, Head of Humanities, Manchester Metropolitan University professional mentor and for the last 6 years I have been Key Stage 3 coordinator.

 I am passionate about my job and the children I serve.

My aim is to maximise pupil achievement ensuring that children are ready to embrace the demands of this society in which we live.

Dr Stephen Guscott - Assistant Headteacher Specialist Schools

Steve GuscottSteve Guscott is a graduate of the University of Sheffield and started teaching in September 2001. He became teacher in charge of History in2002, and subsequently Head of Citizenship in 2003.

Since September. he is has been in charge of managing the Humanities and Leading Edge specialisms, as well as looking after staff CPD and the induction of NQTs and new staff.

Steve is committed to developing the distinctive nature of a Catholic school, and is passionate about high quality teaching, providing new and different learning opportunities and making school 'the place to be'.
