the Library is a pleasant and convenient place to choose books
The LRC is found in the heart of the school and contains a variety of fiction and non-fiction for students to borrow as well as reference books. The literature is for all age groups.
The LRC run by Mrs Smith, assisted by Mrs Morrin is open until 4.00 p.m. every evening. During the timetabled day it is used for a variety of learning activities and at break and lunch-time for additional study, borrowing books and other resources. At lunchtime a team of student librarians, trained by Mrs Smith help organise and care for books. The team is taught how to shelf returned books, keep the library tidy, cover and bar code new books and use our electronic “Micro Librarian” book issuing system. As they become more experienced they provide a valuable service to the rest of school, ensuring the Library is a pleasant and convenient place to choose books.
From 3.15 p.m. until 4.00 p.m. a homework club operates Monday to Thursday. This provides a valuable resource and staff are available to assist if necessary.
ICT and the LRC
The LRC has five networked computers available for student use. In addition, at lunchtime, the ICT suite in Room 12 is also available. This allows students, under supervision, to work on their school studies.
